this year I felt like re-animating the nativity scene with the santons > that I had collected over the years during my trips to provence decades ago.

la pastorale des santons de provence
...............................................................................................................................................................
and for those of you who understand french, I invite you to listen to the 'pastorale des santons de provence' on youtube >, a very naive, humorous and charming audio performance about the miracles occurring at the birth of jesus, taking place of course in provence (pdf with info and text in french >)

balthasar
...............................................................................................................................................................
if, when reading the title of this post, you thought that perhaps for once this subject would not relate to the crimson circle and shaumbra >, no way :-).
regarding la pastorale des santons de provence, it's in the first place because the nativity scene immediately reminds me of 'balthasar the magus' >, known as one of the legendary 'three magi', and an incarnation of the ascended master kuthumi lal singh >.
his story is channeled by marisa calvi >, and it's not idyllic at all what actually happened around the birth of the historic yeshua >/jesus> (who btw. was a collective consciousness and far from the jesus depicted by religion. see also my previous post "the shaumbra advent.ure").

saint francis of assisi
................................................................................................................................................................
furthermore, when I went searching for 'santons' in the web, I found an article by margo lestz > and with it surprisingly another incarnation of kuthumi, i.e. saint francis of assisi > (actually another collective consciousness, "an unsouled being, who I (adamus) helped to create with kuthumi and some others." see embodiment shoud 7]
but why saint francis of assisi in an article about the little saints of provence?
it's because according to the author of this article:
" the history of the nativity scene can be traced back to st. francis of assisi, who wasn’t french but did have a french connection – his mother was from provence. he was born in assisi (italy) while his father was away on business in france. his mother named him giovanni, but when his father returned, he started calling him francesco (meaning frenchman, (which is francis in english).
it seems that francis was the first to make a representation of the nativity scene. in 1223, he used a little manger (feeding trough) filled with straw and a live donkey and ox. after this, “crèches” became popular in the churches and spread throughout christendom, but during the french revolution, masses and crèches in churches were outlawed. this is when the first small family nativity scenes started to appear in france. an artisan named lagnel from marseilles created little plaster figurines. the practice caught on and the small painted figures made of clay started being produced in different towns and villages in the area and each household could have their own nativity scene. these private holiday displays grew to include all of the crafts people and trades people in the village. each santon is shown with something which identifies his or her trade. these figures are passed down from generation to generation and added to each year."

le ravi
................................................................................................................................................................
my santons collection contains many actors of the play mentioned above, but for instance 'le ravi', the delighted one, is missing. in the pastorale he is put down for being lazy and annoying and I find the way saint mary addresses him most beautiful:
"ne les écoute pas, ravi. tu as été mis sur la terre pour t'émerveiller. tu as rempli ta mission. et tu auras ta récompense. le monde sera merveilleux tant qu'il y aura des gens comme toi, capables de s'émerveiller." | "don't listen to them, ravi. you have been put on the earth to marvel. you have fulfilled your mission. and you will have your reward. the world will be wonderful as long as there are people like you, able to marvel." |
it's kind of perceiving reality through the master sense of beauty >
therefore no wonder that le ravi might be next on my santons shopping list >....
oh!
